Easy Fireworks in the Kitchen Science Activity

This is a super easy and very interesting activity for young children.  My children for so long, and have asked to do this several times since!
Materials:
-container (we used a shallow plate)
-baking soda
-vinegar (any kind)
-food coloring
-eye dropper

Directions:
1. Sprinkle baking soda in the bottom of the container.

2. Put some vinegar into little containers and add a few drops of food coloring to each vinegar container.

3. Using an eye dropper squirt some vinegar onto the baking soda and watch the fireworks explode!

After this activity we watched this short youtube video of fireworks.  (I'm hoping they won't be as afraid this year during the real fireworks!)
