Book Review: God Gave us You

We loved reading God Gave Us You, a board book by Lisa T. Bergren, the author of the many "God Gave Us" children's books.

This sweet story is mother bear explaining to her cub about her arrival from heaven.  Almost ever page repeats the line, "God gave us you," emphasizing the special gift that each child is.

My children really related to this book because we've had a new baby recently and they remember when we were preparing for the baby's arrival and mommy's tummy was getting bigger (two things that are discussed in the book.)

This is a great story to read to kids in preparation for a new sibling, and to remind them how special they are too!

My one dislike is near the end of the book when the cub says she was "borned."  I disliked this because I feel written words and reading provide an opportunity to teach children correct English.  Even though many children may say "borned", I'd rather read it to them correctly so that they hear the correct way to speak. :)

I received a free copy of this book for review purposes from Waterbrook Multnomah Publishers.  All opinions are my own.
